Dental exams can be scary, especially when you know something is wrong. But unfortunately, there are only a variety of things you can do to keep your toothache pain down. If you’re avoiding the dentist, it’s time to stop doing so. We’ve given you some great ways to help alleviate the pain you’re experiencing, and if that doesn’t help, we recommend you give our family dentistry team a call. With our experience and expertise, we can provide you with the pain relieving results you need. We’d like to point out however, that there is one more way you can help to alleviate pain.
Apply Hand Acupressure
You can use acupressure when you come in to our appointment to help ease the pain you’re experiencing while we try to figure out what’s going on inside that mouth of yours. All you have to do is press a good amount of pressure with your thumb onto the back of your other hand at the base of where the base of your index finger and thumb meet. Applying constant pressure here for two minutes at a time can help trigger your brain to release endorphins. Endorphins are your brain’s feel good hormones, and they can help to disguise your pain. Caution- if you are pregnant, be sure to avoid hand acupressure, as it can have unsightly side effects.
We hope that we have helped calm your nerves by giving you some temporary pain relief for that aching tooth of yours. Your next step is to schedule an appointment with our dentist here in Woburn today and get that toothache fixed once and for all!
