As a kid, Halloween is a blast because you get to dress up as someone or something that you’ve always wanted to be and stay up late with your friends. But when you think back to being a child, the excitement for the pounds of candy is something that seems exceptionally fresh. At this age, candy is something that kids experience every once in awhile, but it’s well known that it isn’t something that you get just because. After your child has eaten as much candy as their little bodies will hold, good dental care is extra important to avoid any cavities from coming in.
The Scary Truth of Halloween
There are plenty of reasons Halloween is scary. While there are more spiders laid out than really necessary, and zombies and vampires walking around at night, it’s not that part of Halloween that we’re talking about. The scariest part of Halloween that we’ve experienced has to deal with the average amount of candy that children consume on this particular nights. Recent studies have shown that kids can consume up to 3.4 pounds of candy on Halloween day, that’s over 7000 calories of sugar in such a tiny little body!
Fight Off The Bad Guys With Good Dental Care
We aren’t talking about fighting off all the villains that you’re sure to see dressed up on Halloween. We are talking about the number one villain when it comes to dental care: cavities. The best way to ensure that your child’s teeth aren’t entirely ruined after Halloween day is by ensuring that they take proper care of their teeth. That includes brushing, flossing, and at times a little extra mouth wash. Wait roughly thirty minutes after they’re done eating, but do make sure to get it done before all that sugar is left sitting there and they’re sleeping.
Dental care is important regardless of the holiday, so make sure that your child is following a dental care routine. For any questions that you have regarding dental care for your children or for any other dental care questions, feel free to contact our office in Woburn. We are happy to help!
